Passport office locations in the USA

For the latest information on lodging passport applications, please see our information on lodging an application during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Where to apply for your passport

Wherever possible, we encourage you to apply for a temporary passport by mail. Please send your application to the office with jurisdiction for the state where you are physically located at the time of your application.

If you need to apply in person, you may make an appointment at any office.  Appointments are reserved for those in genuine emergency situations. For the safety of our staff and visitors, we ask that you do not bring anyone to your interview who is not required to attend.  If you are accompanied by friends or family members, they are welcome to wait outside our offices while you lodge your application.

Please check the list of public holidays for dates when our offices are closed.

Temporary passport interview locations

The Australian Embassy and Australian Consulates-General occasionally visit other states to conduct passport interviews. The number of visits are limited and only a small number of locations are visited each year. We do not visit each state and do not maintain an annual schedule as visits occur only when required for official business purposes.  We can normally provide 1-2 months notice of a confirmed visit, which we advertise on this web page and through our Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you already have travel planned, you should make immediate arrangements to lodge at one of our regular passport offices.

Upcoming temporary passport interview locations

COVID-19 Update:  All planned visits have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to reschedule the visits when it is safe to do so.  Information about future visits will be posted on this page when known.  If you need a passport in the meantime, please read the information on lodging an application during the pandemic

Please do not call us to find out more about visits that may occur in the future as there is no further information we can provide. If you are interested in attending an interview at a temporary office location in the future, the best advice we can give you is to monitor this page for updates.  If the options listed are not convenient for you, please make arrangements to lodge at one of our permanent offices.

Please check this list of locations we have visited in the past as a guide to the frequency and location of our visits.
