The Australian Government has appointed Dr Diana M Bowman as the Honorary Consul for Australia in Phoenix, with jurisdiction throughout Arizona. The appointment of Dr Bowman will continue to deepen the relationship between Australia and Arizona.
Dr Bowman was raised and educated in Australia, has spent the last decade educating the next generation of Arizonans at Arizona State University, contributing to enhancing Australia-Arizona relations. She is a professor in the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where she serves as the associate dean for applied research and engagement, and the School for the Future of Innovation in Society. She is also a PLuS Alliance Fellow and team member of PlanetWorks in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability.
As Honorary Consul, Dr Bowman will provide consular and passport services to Australian citizens in Arizona, and will assist in furthering Australian commercial, cultural and educational interests in the state.
