Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War, landing in Gallipoli in 1915. 

ANZAC stands for ‘Australian and New Zealand Army Corps’. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

To commemorate ANZAC Day 2023, the Australian Embassy, Consulates-General and many expat community groups are hosting services and events. Find an event in your area below.

Los Angeles


Join the Consulates-General of Australia and New Zealand for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.

San Francisco


Join the Consulates-General of Australia and New Zealand, along with the SF Aussies and SF Kiwis for a commemorative ANZAC Day service.

The service will begin at 11.00 AM. Following the ceremony, food and beverages will be served on the deck, then guests are welcome to explore the Sea, Air & Space Museum throughout the ship. Please purchase your food and beverage tickets to assist with catering.

 

San Diego


Join the Australian Defence Force and the Consulates-General of Australia and New Zealand for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service aboard the USS Midway, San Diego.

The service will begin promptly at 8.00 AMfollowed by a Gunfire Breakfast aboard the USS Midway flight deck

Please note: The USS Midway parking lot will be under construction, so please allocate time to walk from Tuna Harbor Parking area. 

In true ANZAC Day sprit, all are invited to join with us in gathering to remember service members, past and present, as well as all who sacrificed at the conclusion of the Commemorative Service at Ballast Point Brewing Little Italy - 2215 India St, San Diego, CA 92101. 

 

Honolulu

The Australian Consulate-General, Chicago will host an ANZAC Day event, free and open to the public.

New York


The Australian and New Zealand Consulates-General, New York will co-host an ANZAC Day Dawn Service and ANZAC Day Church Service. There will also be a flag raising of the Australian and New Zealand flags. All events are free and open to the public.
