Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War, landing in Gallipoli in 1915. 

ANZAC stands for ‘Australian and New Zealand Army Corps’. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

Los Angeles

Join the Consulates-General of Australia and New Zealand for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service Los Angeles

Please arrive at 8.45 am. The service begins promptly at 9.00 am and will be followed by a light morning tea at the Los Angeles National Cemetery. 

The event will be held outside so please plan accordingly.

San Diego

Join the Australian Defence Force, the Consulates-General of Australia and New Zealand for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service.

In true ANZAC Day sprit, all are invited to join with us in gathering to remember service members, past and present, as well as all who sacrificed at the conclusion of the Commemorative Service at Ballast Point Brewing Little Italy - 2215 India St, San Diego, CA 92101. The legends at Ballast Point have kindly agreed to open their doors early and will feature a Burger with The Lot on the menu as their Burger Tuesday Special as well as ANZAC Bikkies complementing their legendary brews.

San Francisco

Please join the Australian Consulate-General in Chicago for Anzac Day 2023, to recognise the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and servicewomen upholding our nations' longstanding commitment to peace and security.

Our service will be held on Tuesday 25 April, commencing at 7:00 am at the Chicago Vietnam Veterans Memorial, on the Riverwalk (State & Wabash). Coffee and a light breakfast will be served nearby.

There is no charge to attend this event, but registration via eventbrite is required for catering purposes. Please contact with questions.

New Orleans

The Australian Consulate-General Houston invites you to attend our ANZAC Day Dusk Commemoration in New Orleans, Louisiana, at 530pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023.

The service will take place in the Fellowship Hall of First Grace United Methodist Church in Mid-City and - thanks to the wonderful support of Acadian Ambulance - will be followed by refreshments and an update from Consul General Benson Saulo on the Australian-Louisiana relationship and upcoming priorities for Australia.

ANZAC Day Church Service

Washington DC

Join the Embassy of Australia and Embassy of New Zealand for an ANZAC Day Commemorative Dawn Ceremony. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Australian American Chamber of Commerce Pacific Northwest, in collaboration with the New Zealanders of Seattle & Seattle Christchurch Sister City Association, will hold a joint Anzac Day Dawn Service on Sunday 23 April.

The Anzac Day Dawn Service is a standing ceremony that will commence at 5:55am. The ceremony includes the reading of poems, the raising of flags and the traditional bugle call of The Last Post.

A contingent of approximately 10 Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) personnel and three families established at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island will join us for the service. The ceremony is expected to end around 6:30am.
