Submitting supporting visa information

Our preferred visa lodgement method is online where available and all supporting documents should be clear scanned copies uploaded to your application via your ImmiAccount.

For guidance on attaching documents to your online application, visit the Department of Home Affairs website.

Please read the below tips on submitting supporting documents prior to lodging your application:

  • All copies of supporting documents, whether lodging online or by paper, must be clear and legible.
  • Do not send any original documents unless you are requested to do so by your case officer.
  • Any original documents sent to the office in Washington will be immediately returned to your nominated postal address via standard mail.
  • Do not send your passport.  On 1 September 2015 Australia ceased issuing visa labels.  Australian visas are recorded electronically and linked to your valid passport.  For more information, visit the Electronic Visa Record page of the Department of Home Affairs website.
  • Documents not in English must be accompanied by a translation.
