G’Day USA 2018

10 February 2018

Each year, G’Day USA showcases the very best of Australia in the United States, kicking off with a series of events in Los Angeles. A key highlight is the annual G’Day USA Gala which honours Australians who have achieved significant success in the creative industries and highlights emerging Australian talent.

This year’s honourees were Academy-award nominated actor Margot Robbie, Emmy and Golden Globe winning producer Bruna Papandrea, music producer, composer and songwriter John Farrar and the late actor Heath Ledger, who was represented at the event by his father and sister Kim and Kate Ledger.

They were joined by other well-known Australians in the US including Rachel Griffiths, Olivia Newton-John, Rose Byrne, Rebel Wilson, Ruby Rose, Jessica Hart, Isla Fisher, Curtis Stone, Human Nature, Hugh Sheridan and Luke Hemsworth, as well as honorary Aussies John Travolta, Lindsay Price and Colin Farrell.

The Gala forms part of a year-long public, cultural and economic diplomacy program including events across the United States throughout the year. These include the annual US-Australia Dialogue on Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific in LA, “Australia House” at South by Southwest in Austin, the Defence Industries Dialogue in Washington DC, the Economic Outlook Address in NY, the “Australia Rocks the Pier” concert at Santa Monica, and a string of other business and cultural events.
