AMBASSADOR HOCKEY’S VISIT TO HAWAII

1 July 2016
Ambassador Joe Hockey meets Honorable David Ige, Governor of the State of Hawaii

Ambassador Joe Hockey made his first visit to Honolulu in June 2016, where he met with local leaders, including the Honorable David Ige (Governor of the State of Hawaii) and Admiral Harry B. Harris (Commander, US Pacific Command). The Ambassador gave an address at the East-West Center and made a panel appearance at the Honolulu International Forum hosted by the Pacific Forum CSIS, where he spoke on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and US-Australia relations. This forum was a breakfast seminar series that promotes dialogue between foreign policy experts and government officials within the Honolulu community.

During his visit Ambassador Hockey was also able to meet with crew from Australia's newest addition to the Royal Australian Navy Fleet, the HMAS Canberra, which was in Honolulu for the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercises.
