Receiving your new passport

If you wish to have your new passport sent to you by Federal Express, you will need to pay an additional USD15 (for up to three passports to the one address).  Alternatively, you can collect your passport at no charge from the office where you lodged the application

If you prefer, you can provide a prepaid letter-sized envelope with the courier company of your choice (eg. UPS, FedEx, etc).  However, you must use a service that requires a signature on delivery.  We will not use your courier envelope if it allows a delivery driver to leave your package unattended.  We do not send passports via the US Postal Service.

Acceptable Methods of Payment

You can pay by:

Make cheques and money orders payable to the Embassy of Australia if lodging in Washington, or the Australian Consulate-General if lodging elsewhere.

Urgent Travel:  Priority Processing Fee

If you need to travel urgently, please contact your lodging office by telephone to discuss your situation before you lodge your application. You may be eligible for an Emergency Passport that can be issued within two working days. An Emergency Passport contains only four visa pages and has a limited validity. It does not contain a chip.

Please note that not all applicants are eligible for an Emergency Passport. You should contact the actual office where you intend to submit the application to discuss your eligibility for the Emergency Passport before making any firm travel plans.
